Bundi is a historical town in the Indian state of Rajasthan; it is located at a distance of 220 km from state capital city of Jaipur & 25 km from educational hub city of Kota. Bundi is very well connected via National Highway No. 52 to both Jaipur & Kota; nearest airport is in Jaipur. Bundi got its name after a tribal leader named as Bunda Meena; it was later ruled by Rao Deva Hada of Hada Rajput clan. After snatching the territory from Jaita Meena in 1342 Rao Deva Hada established the princely state of Bundi.

The region of Bundi was known as “Bunda Ka Naal” which literally means “narrow ways of Bunda”; these narrow ways of Bundi got a great natural strategic advantage over invaders; this made Bundi a very important player in the war-ridden Rajputana region & favorite of Hada Rajputs.

On the hilltop a fort named as Taragarh Fort (means Star Fort in Hindi), it is the most celebrated structure of Bundi. Apart from this invincible fort, Bundi is also famous for the step wells which ensured the continuous water supply around the year & frescos in the chitrashala of the fort are a great example of craftsmanship.
There are many beautiful havelis in the foothills of Taragarh Fort also known as Bundi Fort has been converted into heritage hotels; offering luxurious stays to tourists. Staying at these hotels is considered as the best way to explore the glorious history & unmatched military skills of great Rajput warriors.

Except for military skills Bundi fort also showcases the managerial skills of Rajputs, the way Hada of Bundi ensured the water supply in the dry region explains a lot about their far sight. At the same time beauty was also a factor kept in mind while constructing the stepwells, the largest step well in Bundi known as Rani ji ki Baori (Queen’s Stepwell) is nearly 46 meters deep & double storied. Frescos & murals in the fort are worth gazing at, these frescos & murals definitely leave tourist awestruck by their immense beauty.
